Beshear backs tax incentive package to lure NASCAR Sprint Cup race

At a press conference today, Gov. Steve Beshear offered his backing to a proposal to offer an incentives package to help Kentucky Speedway attract a NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

“The impact of a NASCAR Sprint Series Cup race for Kentucky is undeniable,” Beshear said in a statement after the press conference. “NASCAR is the number one spectator sport in the United States and is broadcast in more than 150 countries and 30 languages. I’m excited about the potential of Kentucky joining these ranks.”

The incentives will come in a bill being filed next week by House Majority Floor Leader Rocky Adkins, a Sandy Hook Democrat, and will include tax credits for the multi-million dollar expansion of Kentucky Speedway in Sparta if it secures a Sprint Cup race.
