Guthrie, a freshman congressman, recently received his committee assignments, and will be serving on the Education and Labor Committee along with the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

According to a release Thursday from Guthrie’s office, Guthrie will serve as the top Republican on the Subcommittee on Higher Education, Lifelong Learning and Competitiveness which oversees education and training beyond the high school level.

As a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, Guthrie will also serve on the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions and the Healthy Families and Communities Subcommittees.

With the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Guthrie will serve on three subcommittees –  Aviation; Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials; and Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management.

“These assignments are significant for the Second District,” Guthrie said in a statement.  “As our region continues to grow and change, so do our transportation needs.  I will be a strong voice on these subcommittees to make sure Washington is listening to the needs of our district.”
