Former President Clinton to campaign in KY Friday for Lunsford, Boswell

Ryan Alessi with the Herald-Leader and others are reporting that former President Bill Clinton will be campaigning in western Kentucky Friday for U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford and David Boswell, the Democratic nominee in the 2nd Congressional District.

Clinton is scheduled to appear in Paducah to campaign with Lunsford and then will be with Lunsford and Boswell in Bowling Green, according to Alessi and a release from Lunsford’s campaign.

And here’s the latest from the Associated Press –

GREENSBURG, Ky. (AP) – Former President Bill Clinton is coming to Kentucky to campaign for Democrats.

Former state Democratic Party Chairman Jerry Lundergan says the former president will be in Paducah and Bowling Green this Friday to campaign for Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford.

Lundergan is a friend of the Clintons and says the former president is looking forward to making the case to elect a Democrat to the White House and a Democrat from Kentucky to the Senate.

He said congressional candidates David Boswell and Heather Ryan are also expected to appear with Clinton.

Lunsford is locked in a tough race against Mitch McConnell, the top ranking Senate Republican who is seeking a fifth term next month.

McConnell is kicking off a statewide bus tour Monday with a swing through heavily Republican counties in south-central Kentucky.

Lundergan raised the possibility this afternoon that Hillary Clinton might come to Owensboro between now and Election Day to campaign for Demcrats, including Boswell.

Lundergan said he didn’t have any details, but said “If I were you, I’d be prepared for a visit.”

Boswell said he had heard the same talk, but couldn’t offer any confirmation of a visit by the former first lady, U.S. senator and presidential hopeful to Owensboro.
