WKU students heading to Dem, GOP conventions

A group of Western Kentucky University political science students will be heading to the Democratic and Republican national conventions in the next two weeks as part of the university’s annual political engagement project.

The group of nine WKU students, including Ryan Edge of Philpot, will join assistant professor Joel Turner and leave Saturday for Denver to attend the Democratic National Convention that runs Monday through Thursday.

The day after that group returns from Colorado, four students and professor Scott Lasley will leave for Minneapolis and St. Paul to attend the Republican National Convention which will be held Sept. 1-4.

The students will be posting about their experiences at both conventions on their blog. Find out more about the trips and WKU’s “Get on the Bus: 40 Years of Political Activism” program here.
