Another take on the 2nd District contest

Greg Giroux with Congressional Quarterly has a take on Kentucky and the 2nd District and finds that the state and the district are “safe Republican” for this fall’s election.

Giroux notes that Democrat David Boswell, a Sorgho state senator, is “waging a serious, if uphill, campaign in a district that backed Bush four years ago with 65 percent of the vote.” Boswell is facing fellow state senator and Bowling Green Republican Brett Guthrie in the race.

Although he sees a Republican victory likely in the 2nd District, Giroux leaves some room for change by saying “a competitive Democratic takeover bid may yet emerge” in this district that he says “has a strong conservative lean.”
