About this blog

Owen Covington has been a reporter with the Messenger-Inquirer since 2004 and currently covers city and state government. He moved to Owensboro after finishing graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a master’s degree in journalism, and previously wrote for the High Point (NC) Enterprise. While his primary area of coverage is the Owensboro City Commission and City Hall, Owen covers the General Assembly from Frankfort when it is in session and provides coverage of politics and state government from Owensboro throughout the year.

“At the River’s Bend” was started in the summer of 2008 as the Messenger-Inquirer’s blog about politics and government. Its goal is to bring up-to-the-minute political news and provide an avenue for those bits and pieces from along the campaign trail, in the state Capitol and from City Hall that often don’t make their way into the day’s articles.
